Coatings and surface hardening
Application of wear resistant coatings is different finish operartsiey and affects the physical and functional properties of the surface and also increases performance. Each type of coating has its own technological features of application and in its own way changes the properties of the material:
- Diamondlike coating. Performed on the basis of boron nitride and have the highest hardness, but do not provide sufficient for most industrial enterprises coating thickness;
- Ceramic. They are used to provide thermal barrier or electrical insulation properties;
- Wear-resistant coatings made of tungsten carbide and chromium carbide. They are applied by high-speed gas-flame spraying and provide high hardness and good anticorrosive properties. However, the probability of chipping during impact loads is high;
- Welding coatings of iron-base materials with the addition of tungsten carbide. Provides reliable protection against wear, even under heavy loads. However, it is subject to cracking and is not subject to mechanical treatment;
- Molybdenum. Has good antifriction characteristics in pair with steel;
- Cobalt-based materials (stellite). They have high wear and corrosion resistance;
- Nickel-base materials. Characterized by ease of application and a wide range of applications;
- Iron-base materials. They have high resistance, ductility and provide a high degree of resistance to wear.
